Born and raised in Youngstown, Ohio, Christian started out in the music industry like so many of us do, working for a record store. At the young age of 5 Christian got into music with his very first favorite star, Michael Jackson. Soon things would develop when his grandmother got him two cassettes from Kmart. Those were Twisted Sister – Under the Blade and Ozzy Osbourne – Diary of a Madman. Once discovering the power and magnitude of these two classic albums, it was obvious that he found something that he could relate to. Not growing up! After graduating high school an opportunity arose for this young rock fan, a job in the music business full time with medical benefits. Moving to Pittsburgh, PA and setting his feet down on the pavement of the south side on East Carson Street, he got a distribution job working for a pioneer in the music jukebox industry, Harvey Campbell. Starting at Harvey’s Music Company which was a division of Galaxy Music Distribution, Christian learned the inside of the label and distribution industry on an indie level. Most of them are gone now but independent music stores were a big thing up until the digital craze that we now call the music industry. He worked hands on with labels such as Sub Pop, TVT and SST to name a few. This was his first introduction to how things used to work. Being in and out of bands since high school, he would continue to create music and be a kid, having a good time. After leaving Pittsburgh because of a job offer from Universal Music & Video Distribution, Christian moved to Cleveland to become a marketing representative hitting music stores down by the good old Cuyahoga River. "That song 'My City Was Gone' by The Pretenders pretty much says it all". After having success, being the face of the distribution in Cleveland, he made a mark and a presence in order to secure an upgrade to the city of Chicago, IL. When getting this promotion he would now focus more in depth on the artists working for a major record label, Island/Def Jam Records. Focusing much more on the in depth day to day label functions through public relations and artist development, he went on to work with artists such as Sum 41, Saliva, Hoobastank, PJ Harvey, Ryan Adams, Billy Bob Thornton, Willie Nelson, and Lucinda Williams. Again also focusing on his own music, teaming up with a great bunch of guys in the Chicago area, he went on to give his own music career a shot and leaving the position to do a lengthy tour. “It is never too late to be what you might have been.” – George Eliot You will never know if something works if you don’t try. Christian had always lived by these words and even though it might take a while to get to the next dream, he would get there eventually to see if it would work. Coming back from the tour broke, dream accomplished but yet ravenous, he did side work as a DJ and bartender until he had the courage to tell his band that he loved, that he was going to LA to begin to work with another group of musicians. Still following his dream and not giving up he moved to LA to see this new dream fizzle out within one year due to textbook LA issues in the art of creating with different personalities and minds. Christian needed a job and the music industry was the only choice.Picking up where he left off in Chicago with Island Def-Jam he began to work with Warner Music Group, handling the artists under their umbrella.During this time he would do promotions and development with artists like Green Day, Unwritten Law, Secret Machines and Regina Spektor. Now back in the mix and a man about town, a position opened with Universal Music Group which Christian took and worked with the sales team on a national level. Not having the creative outlet that he was looking for, he started to focus on working with indie labels again and their recording artists. His pervious position before moving on to be partner in Raw Power Management was focused on events, booking, marketing and putting together a network for independent record labels. These areas would be developed by sponsorships and financing from Fortune 500 clients. When asked about Raw Power Music, Christian said that he is really looking forward to working with a great roster of artists right off the bat. Artists that he can see a huge amount of potential and ability to be road dogs, work hard and ultimately accomplish goals together, celebrate together and have a good time doing it along the way. |
